THE JOURNAL of the Middle States Council for Social Studies publishes scholarly, empirical, and practitioner articles exploring strategies for effective social studies teaching and learning. Preference is given to articles utilizing inquiry to explore issues relevant to communities located in Middle States member states. View past issues of the The JOURNAL here!
Guidelines for Manuscripts:
Articles should identify or offer solutions to issues of social studies teaching and learning and follow these guidelines:
• Cite relevant research related to your topic or issue
- Include clear suggestions for classroom practice
- Follow APA formatting
- Remove identifying information (your name and affiliation) from your submission
- Classroom examples or materials (e.g., worksheets) are appreciated.
- Submissions may be up to 2,500 words, not including reference
Guidelines for Classroom Notes:
Classroom Notes focus on sharing specific classroom strategies and reflections on teaching experiences. Kindly adhere to the following guidelines:
- Ground your strategy or experience in best practices
- Follow APA formatting
- Include links to reproducible materials
- Explain the materials’ use and success
- Submissions may be up to 1,000 words, not including references
